Show Parowan City reviews Garbage Disposal PAROWAN - Caudell Orton attended the meeting representing D and O Sanitation Company. They presented, several plans to the city concerning con-cerning garbage disposal. They requested that they be allowed to take over the city garbage pickup service, or be allowed to lease an acre of property at the city dump yard, they would then build a building on the property and have the city , and Brian Head dump their garbage in the building, to be picked up by the D and O truck and moved to a pit at the mines in Cedar. The city is now looking into both plans and have set another date to make an official decision on the requests. Parowan Fire Chief Albert Orton announced that the new siren ordered by the city has now arrived and will be installed as soon as possible. Probably site for the installation will be somewhere in the vicinity of the school block. City auditor Floyd Pickering has completed an audit for the city for fiscal year ending June 30, 1976. He reported that the city is in better financial condition than last year. The council approved ap-proved his report as it was presented. Earl Bunn chairman of the power board discussed progress and improvements being made at the Parowan Sub-station. They are installing a new transformer and regulators, this will permit more power to come in from outside sources into the city. Total cost of the project will be twelve thousand dollars. The transformer was purchased previous to this serveral years ago. The City accepted a deed from Carlyle Johnson for the street that runs through the middle of his subdivision. They also approved ap-proved accepting maintenance of the street. The city also approved a plan to fence the airport area. This will be funded by the State A aeronautics board, with labor provided by the city. |
