Show Redmen lose to strong Wildcats; come 'running' to stop Jordan I "in The Cedar High School Red-men Red-men had an up and down week in their basketball efforts, Friday night the Redmen traveled to Richfield to challenge one of the top ranked 2A clubs in the state and came away suffering suf-fering a 79-55 setback - only their second loss of the season. Returing to the home court Saturday night Coach Dick Hobbs and his crew ' took on another tough opponent this time the Beetdiggers of Jordan, ranked as one of the top five 3A clubs of the state. The Beetdiggers in this case had to leave on the short end of the score as the Redmen got back their running shoes and defeated the visitors from the north 76-70. Wildcat Loss The Wildcats, paced by Lee Young and Scott Brown, bombed the Redmen in the fourth quarter of play and captured the victory going away. The "Running Reds" were never really on track against the Wildcats and they were outhustled on the boards by the strong Richfield crew. Young and Brown ot tne Wildcasts were both in the 20's with 20 and 22 respectively, but they also had two others in double figures with the Christiansens, two of them, with 14 and 11 respectively. Charles Judd paced the Redmen in the try to stay in the contest with 14 points followed by Mike Graf with 12,. Joe Wells, the leading scorer on the squad, was held to 11 - the first time he has been under 20 this season - and Kerry Cox added 10. But it was primarily a matter of the Wildcasts were ready and the Redmen were not. Up for Jordan Converserly the Redmen were off and "runnin" Saturday night as they took on the Beetdiggers of Jordan. TOUGH TWO. Kerry Cox of the Cedar High School Redmen comes up with a tough two points in actions against Jordan Beetdiggers Saturday. Redmen scored a 76-70 victory. It was Charles Judd leading the way on the scoring with a' series of twisting, falling, running, run-ning, jumping, contortions under the basket to come up with a super performance and 34 points. That effort was greatly complimented by Robert Morris on the guard line who was credited with 15 assists on the evening. Joe Wells, who was somewhat under the weather for the weekend action, was more of himself Saturday as he contributed con-tributed 15 and Cox stayed consistantly in double figures with 11. It was a battle all the way with the Redmen holding onto the lead through most of the contest. In the fourth period the Redmen had what appeared to be a commanding lead, only to relax for a minute and found the Beetdiggers breathing down their necks. The taller Beetdiggers were "out positioned on the boards" in this contest and despite their height advantage came off second best against the more determined Redman crew. Jordan was lead in their scoring by Simonkh with 16 and they got balanced scoring, but not enough with 14 from Cutler arid 10 each from Olsen, Baker and Langston.
