Show Randall Bros. Farmers of the Year The Enterprise and Iron Soil Conservation District named Randall Farms, located in the Escalante Valley, as recipients of the Farmer of the Year award this past week. Accepting the trophy from E & I SCD official Elmer Gurr were Lavon, Weston and Roger Randall. The brothers said their farm is located a few miles south of Enterprise, where they live. Richard Baird, soil conservationist, con-servationist, said the award was given the Randall Farms because of their high utilization of sprinklers and because it was combination operation, both cattle and crops. The brothers said they grew up on the farm they presently own, which has now grown to 1200 acres of irrigated ground. They said the primary crop is potatoes, which are contracted out to processors on the west coast, 100 head of cattle and grains and alfalfa rotation crops. SCD officials commended the farmers for having their operation "down to a science, with good yield and high-grade crops." |
