Show Industrial development Council gives go ahead . . . rap d. . . CEDAR CITY - The Cedar City Council last Thursday authorized the Industrial Park Committee to go ahead and negotiate contract details with John Price Industries, prospective Cedar City Industrial Park private developer. Committee chairman Paul Whetman recommended to the Council that it select Price Industries to be the developer. "We need to get going as fast as possible, with this developer, in order to take advantage of revenue bonds available," he said. The Council enpowered Whetman's committee to get with a John Price representative and negotiate the exact details in the contract. The ordinance change states that "no truck, bus or vehicle with a trailer shall be parked at any place on Main Street between Monterey Drive and 200 North; on Main Street on from the south side of the Coal Creek Bridge to 600 North; between Main Street and 100 west on the north side of 200 North; nor 1000 West to 1150 West on the south side of 200 North." Also parking shall be restricted from 1000 West to Interstate 15 on the north side of 200 North. Police Chief Doug Bolton commented that if the City Council went ahead and put up the signs that "we can enforce it." F.lection results accepted Councilman Harold Shirley proposed, in characteristic Shirley humor, that, the Council accept the election results as voted on by the people of Cedar City and that Mayor-elect Robert Linford and Councilmen-elect Tom Cardon and Conrad Hatch be "sworn in and then be sworn at" on Jan. 2, 1982. Shirley, who lost his bid for the mayor spot in the recent election, said, "I don't haveany regrets in theelection results. If any thing, it has renewed my faith in the people in Cedar City." Other business In other business Negotiations to purchase a city building are still continuing said Mayor Jack Sawyers. "We've been given a subsequent offer on the Prudential Building; that offer's not to be released yet." Redevelopment Committee Chairman Dixie Leavitt reported to the Council that Burrows and Smith Bonding Agency has purchased the tax allocation bonds lor the downtown redevelopment project. Representing Dent and Associates, developer Douglas Alan Dent and attorney at-torney Jay Dent spoke to the Council asking for the annexation of their client's properties. According to Doug Dent, if the City chose to annex the property, it would make it a lot easier to plan and coordinate the development efforts on the land. The property located west of Cedar City, between State Highway 56 and Interstate 15 would increase the size of the City by about 75 percent. "We feel the property lies in the growth pattern of the city and it would increase the total number of city acreage substantially," commented Doug Dent.
