Show PHS spikers finish in fifth PAROWAN - The Pa rowan High School volleyball team capped a successful season last weekend as they traveled east to participate 'in the I'lah State l-A volleyball tournament and finished in fifth place. Tournament games were conducted at several high schools in s o u t h c e n t r a 1 and southeastern Utah and the girl Rams were 3-1 in tourney competition. "1 was pleased with the girl's performance," said Nanette Cahoon, Ram coach. "They performed well the whole season. It was a team effort." The Rams finished the season with a line total record of 19-4, including tournament games. In State competition, the Rams got off to a good start when they downed Tintic Friday 15-6 and 15- 9. They fell apart in the second game and lost to a good Monticello squad 1-15 1-15 and 9-15. "We just couldn't pull it out," explained Cahoon. "We just weren't playing as a team." , The loss eliminated Parowan from any chance at a State title, but the Ram girls toughened-up and won two more matches to garner their fifth-place ranking. A tough match against Valley saw the Rams come out on top 15-4, 8-15 and 15-11. The Hams were then pitted against St. Josephs in their final contest. They won the match in two straight games by scores of 15-9 and 15-10 to end the season on a positive note and with a fifth-place l-A finish. |
