Show Zion Park to remain open ZION NATIONAL PARK According to Superintendent Harold L. Grafe, Zion National Park will remain open all winter this year. Snow accumulation on the canyon floor is sparse throughout the winter, and roads in Zion Canyon and to Mt. Carmel Junction are generally quickly reopened after storms. The Kolob Canyons and Kolob Terrace Roads will be closed to travel when snow accumulation makes travel hazardous. Evening programs and naturalist-guided walks have ended for the year; however they will resume around mid-April. The Visitor Center, featuring cultural and natural history exhibits and a 12-niinute 12-niinute free slide program, remains open all year. Visitor Center hours during the winter are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. There are also two self-guiding self-guiding nature trails and a picnic area for visitor use. The public is en couraged to visit the park during the fall, as temperatures tem-peratures are usually moderate and weather conditions ideal. Further information on any of the services or activities of the park may be obtained by writing to the Superintendent, Zion National Park, Springdale, Utah 84767 |
