Show Fifth District Court hears numerous motions and cases PAROWAN Judge J. Harlan Burns heard a number of motions and cases last week during law and motion days at the Fifth District Court here. Included in the list was the arraignment of Timothy Edward Foard, 28, on a charge of attempted criminal homicide. He pleaded not guilty to the charge of shooting Charles R. Powell, Beryl, after an argument at the Playhouse Lounge on Oct. 17. A trial date will be set. Kirk Wall was arraigned on a charge of assault upon a child. The victim was allegedly Andrea Wall. He pleaded not guilty, and a trial date will be set. Billy Gene Baldwin, Jr., pleaded guilty to three separate charges: two of obtaining possession of a controlled subsance by deception, third degree felonies; and one of burglary, a second degree felony. Presentencing reports by the Department of Adult Probation and Parole were ordered in all three instances. in-stances. Russell William Beatty appeared on four charges. He pleaded guilty to two counts of burglary and theft, involving an incident at Cedar Valley Lumber. The court orderd a presentence report in these cases. Beatty also appeared on another charge of burglary and theft, but a diversion agreement was submitted, and the matter will be back on the court calendar in December. Beatty and Glen D. Taylor both appeared ap-peared on a charge of vehicle burglary, a class A misdemeanor. Beatty's case will be handled by a diversion agreement, and Taylor pleaded guilty. The court ordered a presentence report for him. Robert Ross Combs was arraigned on a charge of distribution of a controlled substance for value. He entered a plea of not guilty, and a jury trial will be set. Eldon Corry was arraigned on a charge of theft of an operable motor vehicle, a second degree felony. He is accused of taking a 1973 Ford LTD from U & S Motors. He pleaded not guilty, and the case will be set for trial. Deborah Isom Twitchell pleaded guilty to a class B misdemeanor of possession of a controlled substance. The court ordered a presentence report. |
