Show Band director invited to conduct high school students through two days of rehearsals then will conduct the band at a public concert Nov. 18. CEDAR CITY -Joseph G. Lamoureux, band director at Southern Utah State College, has been invited to conduct the Southern Idaho Regional Band Nov. 18-19 in VVeiser, Idaho. As the guest conductor, Lamoureux will lead the Students from several high schools in southern Idaho will participate in the music festival. Professor Lamoureux has also been invited to conduct the Utah Region 12 Concert Band Nov. 10-11 10-11 at Parowan High School. Rehearsals with the 100-member band will be held over the two day period culminating with a public concert Nov. 11. The concert will begin at Parowan High at 6 p.m. and will be free to the public the guest director said. Lamoureux is a popular adjudicator, having recently judged the Utah Region Eight High School Band Festival and the Brigham Young University High School Marching Band Festival. He is the director of Thunder, the SUSC band, which hosted the college's annual Cavalcade of Bands at Thunderbird Stadium Saturday. Lamoureux joined the SUSC faculty in 1975 where he is an associate professor of music. J J. Joseph G. Lamoureux |
