"Park City had an excellent ballclub," said a happy Al Marshall, Beaver coach. "Our kids wanted it bad, and they went out alter it. They played their hearts out to win." Marshall continued: "We knew we could teat them." The Beavers were defeated by the Miners earlier in the season but, according to Marshall, Beaver mostly beat themselves in that encounter. That gave the Beavers confidence that they could stay with the favored Park City crew. "We were able to force them into making mistakes that they haven't made all year," explained Marshall. Beaver capitalized on these miscues and thus won the ballgame. Marshall gave the Miners credit for coming back and showing poise by not falling apart. "They did a super job that way," said Marshall. Things started on a sour note for the Beavers when Park City put together a good drive following the opening Beaver kickoff and, with the help of a pass interference penalty, scored fairly early. The point after was successful and it looked like it could be a long day lor the Beavers. It wasn't to be that Ueaver quarterback Steve Hutchings sprints around the left side with two Park City defenders in pursuit. The Beavers played a superb ballgame against the Miners and came away with a 24-21 win. The Beavers face Kanab Saturday for the State 1-A title. SUSC (68) vs. Western 1N.M.
