Show . Braves, Vikes, Wildcats face stiff tests on Friday night gion Four wars that begin next week. With four state playoff berths up for grabs this year, everyone starts anew. All three high schools in the Bountiful area face stiff challenges this Friday as the third week of high school football unfolds. Each team faces an undefeated opponent. oppo-nent. Here's a brief breakdown of each game: LAYTON AT WOODS CROSS, Friday at 7:30 p.m.: The Lancers of second-year coach Joe Wood are hot, with big victories already ovei both Bountiful and Viewmont. Layton features great speed and a lot of muscle on the front line. They've also shown they can capitalize capit-alize on turnovers, as they did in dumping a good Viewmont team last week. The Wildcats, 0-2 so far, showed some fine defense last week in losing los-ing to Clearfield. Taking away an 80 yard TD run in the game's final minute, the Cats held the Falcons to 34 yards rushing. Roy has scored 68 points and is yet to be scored on so far, but again, has not been tested by a real quality team. The big question mark for Bountiful Boun-tiful remains injuries. If All-State running back Sid Smith, and teammate team-mate Brett Parkinson, are out with ailments they suffered during the victory at Weber last week, the Braves may be in trouble. Quarterback Quarter-back Joe Covey and junior back Sharif Hadley are very capable of keeping things going offensively, but the Braves will have to play better defensively. Bountiful has given up 59 points in two games. All three games conclude the preseason and set the table for Re- |
