Show Baha'i faith, history of shrines in Israel to be discussed Monday Many world travelers have visited vi-sited (he Baha'i shrines in Haifa, Israel and are impressed with their beauty and serenity. However, few of them understand why that spot is the spiritual and administrative center of the Baha'i Faith. It was not merely chance that led to the establishment of shrines and institutions insti-tutions in Haifa, but rather fulfillment fulfill-ment of prophecies from the Book of Revelation in the Holy Bible. It often comes as a surprise to outsiders outsid-ers that Baha'is regard the Bible as the Word of God and that their reli-gion reli-gion recognizes the Prophet, Baha'u'llah, as the return of Christ. The significance of the Baha'i shrines in Haifa and an overview of the Baha'i Faith will be the topic of a discussion to be held Monday, February 16 at 8 p.m. Baha'i temles will also be included in the talk. These are scattered throughout through-out the world and are open to peoples peo-ples of all religions for prayer and meditation. William O. Douglas of the Supreme Court of the United States had this to say after the dedication de-dication of the temple in Wilmette, Illinois: "The Baha'i House of Worship is a structure of great beauty, as millions who had seen it know. But perhaps not so many realize its symbolic significance. It teaches the essential unity of mankind under one God, irrespective of the various sects and creeds that give expression to the various faiths. There is a basic wholeness among people the world around. There are spiritual ties that unite them in the brotherhood of man... The important impor-tant thing is recognition of the essential unity of mankind under one God. That is a force which cuts across politics, trade routes, racial groupings the world around."
