Show County Commission gives approval for cities, entities to apply for Community Block Grants By CHERIE HUBER Rick Mayfield and Wilt Sumerkorn presented a list of proposed prop-osed applications to the county commissioners that Davis County would submit for the CDGB grant money. The list included the Davis County Housing Authority with a request for $ 1 00,000 for housing rehabilitation ; the Davis County Coun-ty Aging Services with a request for $300,000 over two years for a Senior Citizens Center; Davis County Council of Government with a request for $550,000 for the Revolving Loan Fund for loans and the possible purchase of industrial land; a separate request by the Davis County Council of government for $25 ,000 for a business Incubator study; and the Wasatch Front Regional Council with a request for $34,000 for planning and administration. administra-tion. The total amount available for DCGB grants this year will be about $900,000. There will also be requests from Davis County cities for part of that grant money. Usually there are requests equal to about three times the amount of money available. The Council of Government makes the final decisions on who will get money. The commissioners approved the proposed list. Jim Stewart presented the Commissioners with an amendment amend-ment to the jail contract with Fox, Edwards and Daniels. The firm has now lost the principle architect to another firm in Texas. The firm has not been able to find a suitable replacement in the area. They asked that a share of the expense of having an architect fly in be paid by the county. That amount is $34,798. Jim Stewart told the commissioners that the county would have had similar costs with any of the other firms whose principle architect is located out of town. The addendum was approved. This amount will be included in the overall pricing of the project. If Farmington City requests a downtown site study, that will be a separate agreement. The study would cost $17,780. |
