Show Tax credit for elderly You could be due a tax credit worth up to hundreds of dollars if you are 65 or older, or if you are under 65 but are retired on permanent perma-nent and total disability and if you received taxable disability benefits in 1986, the Internal Revenue Service Ser-vice (IRS) says. If the taxpayer fills out the first two parts of Schedule R, "Credit for the Elderly and the Permanently Permanent-ly and Totally Disabled," and includes in-cludes it with his or her Form 1040; the IRS will compute the credit.
