Show u of u is Host To Indonesian Student Of Law A 22-year-old Indonesian law student on a cross-country tour, spent last week at the University of Utah for a close-up view of campus life, American education and Mormonism. Abdul Radjab, touring the United Unit-ed States under auspicies of the National Student Association, visited vis-ited classes, talked with University Univer-sity President A. Ray Olpin and Dean of Students Willard W. Blaessar and met informally with students. Former vice president of the Indonesian National Union of Students, Radjab has been in this country since November. His itinerary itin-erary has included Boston, New York, Washington, Philadelphia and Detroit. Primary purpose of his journey is to observe American education in action. While in Utah, he made side trips to other state colleges and universities. According to Radjab, many college col-lege graduates in his home country coun-try assume important governmental governmen-tal posts upon graduation. A fellow fel-low student of Radjab's is now serving as minister of education in Indonesia. Radjab pointed up the importance import-ance of college students in his homeland further when he reported report-ed that the head of the Indonesian government consults the University Univer-sity student body president before be-fore acting on any student matters. mat-ters. The sights of Salt Lake City were covered by Radjab during his local stay. Especially interested interest-ed in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he toured the Temple grounds and attended an LDS ward service. Radjab, currently one of five members of a permanent student commission investigating the suppression sup-pression of academic freedom, plans to enter the diplomatic service. |
