Let's all try and be there. Word has been received that Mrs. Harold Gardner, of Salt Lake City had the misfortune to slip down near her home and break one of her legs. A CORRECTION In place of Mr. and Mrs. Junior Jenkins, it was Mr. and Mrs. Junior Jun-ior Betts who attended the Temple Tem-ple excursion at Salt Lake City last week. Mrs. Ruby McCarrell, Mrs. Hazel Haz-el Goodrich, Mrs. Reva Anderson and May Anderson of Vernal, came over two days last week to do some house cleaning for Mrs, John H. Cook at her home. Marvin Kettle has been chosen as a jury man at Vernal for this next term. Norman Mangum, son of Mr. and Mrs. Squire Mangum, has gone to Treasure Island now after af-ter enjoying a furlough with his parents. His wife remained here with his mother. BIRTHDAY DINNER Mrs. David Lundberg recently entertained the following at a birthday dinner for her son, Anthony, An-thony, and Shirley Winn: Mr. and Mrs. Earl Winn and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Knowles, of Neola, Ne-ola, and her own family. Mrs. Rulon Anderton taught school on Friday in Mrs. Bernice Nelson's place. Gwen, the small daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Page, was quite ill last week and was taken to the" Roosevelt Hospital for treatment. Lynn White left Salt Lake City early Sunday morning for New York City to sail for Brazil, where he will labor as a missionary. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Winn have sold their farm in Independence to Clifford Moore. Thomas Jeppson attended a principals' meeting at Vernal last Monday and brought a set of books back for the Alterra school. A good crowd of ladies attended attend-ed Relief Society on Tuesday. Mrs. Vionne Parrish presented the Literature Lit-erature lesson. Mr. and Mrs. Lynn McClure took their baby to Salt Lake City last week for medical care. . Seth Asay went to Salt Lake City last Thursday to get his wife who had been there helping care for the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Neilson and new baby. Herald Crapo and Owen Burgess, Bur-gess, of Myton, members of the stake Sunday School board, visited vis-ited Sunday School in Ballard. There was a social security meeting held at Ballard Thursday afternoon. Men from several communities com-munities were in attendance. GO TO NEBRASKA Sanford Butcher received a phone call from Sidney, Nebraska in reply to an application he had there for a member of the police force. He was accepted and he and his wife, Mildred, left for that destination des-tination Saturday. Sanford is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Butcher. We wish the Butchers success in this undertaking. Mrs. Earl Winn entertained forj her sister, Mrs. David Lundberg's birthday early in the month. Those attending the dinner were Mr. and Mrs. David Lundberg and family, and Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Knowles from Neola and the Winn family. BUY SAVINGS STAMPS Beginning early this week there will start a Savings Stamps drive at the Alterra School. All children who wish to start a savings are invited to begin this way. Norman Rasmussen was home from the BYU to spend the weekend week-end with his parents. Mr. and Mrs. Vaughn O'Neil and daughter of Price, spent the past weekend with their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph O'Neil. Both couples were visitors at the Ralph McMullen home on Saturday evening. FIRESIDE HELD Fireside was held at the chapel Sunday evening, Jan. 16th, after Sacrament meeting. Don Sorenseri, one of the Seminary teachers at Union High School, showed some very interesting slides he had taken tak-en while on an LDS mission. About thirty of the young people were there and twenty of the adult group. Erie Hatch was in charge of the evening. Bill McKee and Danny Turner, of Vernal, insulated the home of Mr. and Mrs. Von Haslem last week. Ralph McMullin made a business busi-ness trip to Rock Springs, Wyo. last week. |
