Show U.E.A. Means Practice Games Region Four has taken the week off from football wars but two of the local teams have scheduled practice games for this Wednesday. WOODS CROSS will entertain Ogden in a 7:30 p.m. contest while the Braves of Bountiful will travel to Clearfield to battle the Falcons at 7:30 p.m. Viewmont doesn't have a game this week. WOODS CROSS - OGDEN Even though the word practice is associated with this week's game the coaching staff at Woods Cross realize the importance of a win. "We know it's a big game for us" admitted Larry Eldracher of the Wildcats, "we have to convince our players that we are not a bad team. W'e are 3-3 on the season right now and we haven't really played that bad. We have played 2 poor games in a row now and we need this win for some momentum heading into the last two games on league." IN DESCRIBING the Tigers of Ogden Eldracher noted that they like a balanced attack on offense and a strong defense. Ogden lost their top two quarterbacks to injuries earlier ear-lier in the season but the sophomore they installed in-stalled as the starter on varsity has improved each week. The one thing the Tigers have is an excellent kicker, in their 12-7 win last week over Sky-View, Sky-View, Mike Tueller kicked four field goals with three of them outside of 40 years. COACH ELDRACHER did indicate that he will be using this game as a chance to look at some new people, "we're just not getting the leadership or good play out of some people who we thought would be good." BOUNTIFUL -- CLEARFIELD The coaching staffs of both Bountiful and Clearfield are looking at this week's encounter as a confidence builder. The Falcons arc trying to shake off the effects of being 1-5 thus far this year while the Braves arc trying to shake the effects of last week's ambush at Davis. THE FALCONS have had bad luck from the outset of this season, take away the 20-0 loss to those Darts and the Clearfield team has lost the other four games by a grand total of 15 points. With any luck at all those Falcons could just as well be 5-1 as the 1-5 that they sport. As for the Braves they will be trying to get themselves up off the floor and get their act back together. Just when it looked like the Braves were getting back on track they run into the Darts. The best thing for them to do is forget last week and concentrate on the Clearfield. Clear-field. THESE FALCONS arc hungry for their second win of the year and seniors like Jeff Barry, Hal Moore and I orn Wood have vowed to gel it. Bountiful will need some leadership from seniors like Kevin Kilburn, Rob I addis and Spencer Zigich to get back on lo the winning win-ning track. It might be considered a practice battle but it looms big in the minds of the players and coaches of both schools. VIEWMONT ItVE 7 he Vikings decided not lo play anyone over the short week and their coach sees it as a good thing "We have lo be careful I hough not to gel stale, li s good for us so wc can gel those nagging injuries healthy but at the same lime we need to keep a sharp edge," noted Warren (latch. |
