Show ' -N v A 5 By DAVE WIGHAM Clipper Sports KAYSVU.l.E - Have you ever been at the 4 bottom of a hill on a winter day ami w atched the snow ball gather speed, pick tip momentum 3 and come roaring down the hill right at you and you seem to be tied up to something and can't move? 1 WELL LAST Friday night the Bountiful football team was at the bottom of the hill watching the Davis High snowball run right at them to the tune of 55-7. ' TODAY: Prep Football Teams Are Muddled In The Middle Of Standings Davis Snowballs Over Braves Let's face the music here people these Darts are a fine football team and they Hexed their muscles in front of a large homecoming crowd at the expense of the Braves. Before we get too carried away we do have to mention that the Darts really didn't run up the score, they played play-ed everyone in a brown and gold uniform but the snowball just kept coming all night picking up speed. BEFORE THE large crowd could all sit down from the pre-game pagentry Ryan Smith of the Darts had taken off on a long, 73 yards, touchdown jaunt on the very first play from scrimmage. Once again the Davis band was on their feet playing the old Dart fight song, these people in the band were probably as winded as anyone on the field since they played this tune every time the Darts got into the end zone. The snowball kept coming on the Darts second possession as they held the Braves on three downs and then returned the punt 34 yards, that Smith guy did this damage again, to the Bountiful 30 yard line, Eight plays later the band was on their feet again with the fight song. THERE WERE some bright spots for the Braves on this ninht and one of them occurred on the Darts third possession as the Braves defense held the Darts on fourth down inside the ten yard line. However even the good things turned sour for Bountiful as each time the defense did something good the turnover bug would bite the offense who were in a hole the entire first half. Davis recovered a Brave fumble but then the Bountiful defense held on four downs once again giving their offense the ball on their own four yard line. Before the defense could get to the water hole though the Darts had recovered another fumble at the Braves two which resulted in another playing of that darn fight song. ON THE; next Davis possession the Braves intercepted a pass but it was on their own one yard line and the next play resulted in a Davis safety. Folks this is how the entire night went for poor Bountiful, even the good things they did turned sour in the end. For all purposes this battle was over at the half, if not before, as by intermission we had heard the fight song a total of six times. It got to the point that the Bountiful fans knew the fight song and were humming along with the band. Continued on page 2 |
