Show Tennis pros to show you how it's done It will be a battle of the pros at the Park Meadows Racquet Club this Sunday at noon as local pro Bob McBroom is joined by three other club pros in a tennis exhibition on the outdoor stadium court. The foursome will be Jim Osbourne, Warren Eber, Kevin Kempin and McBroom. Teams have not been set yet. McBroom said the event, which is free and open to anyone (member or non-member), is designed to create more interest in the game. "It's fund to watch, plus it gets people psyched up to play tennis," he said. Osbourne has the leading credentials of the group. He is currently the teaching pro at the Fort Douglas Country Club. Last year he was rated the number one player in the 35-year-old-and-over division in the United States. Osbourne has played in the U.S. Open, and played on Davis Cup champion teams in 1968 and 1969. He is a former top 10 player in the world. Eber is the head professional at the Salt Lake Swim and Tennis Club. Kempin is head pro at the Cottonwood Club in Salt Lake. Both are regulars on the Intermountain circuit. The exhibition is McBroom's latest effort to promote tennis in the area since joining the Park Meadows staff last September. |
