FIRST OBSERVER PLANETNEPTUNE Potsdam, July 11. Johann Gottfried Gott-fried Galle, a German astronomer, who waa the first observer of tho planet Neptune, died hero yosterday. Herr Galle waa born June 9, 1812. He studied mathematics and the natural natu-ral sciences at Derlin from 1830 until 1 S33. Ho observed tho planet Neptune Nep-tune on September 21, 1846. In 1851 he was made director of tho observatory at Breslau and professor of astronomy. In 1839-40 he discovered discov-ered three colets.
