Entire Austrian brigades implored im-plored thc Italians to take them prisoners, pris-oners, preferring lo remain with the Italians rather than return home without with-out food. The Italian officers were unable un-able to resist the importunities of tho generals and colonels who wanted food, shelter and safety.
