Show Germans Aided forks in Acts of Violence LONDON. Dec. 5. (British Wireless Service) Throughout the last four years the Turks, acting under the orders or-ders of the committee of union and progress, have done their best to ruin Turkey and have succeeded "extremely "extreme-ly well," says the Constantinople correspondent cor-respondent of the Morning Post, in describing the corruption and misery of Turkey. Three million persons, he says, have been massacred and another million is on the verge of starvation. "The greater portion of the Ottoman Otto-man empire," the correspondent continues, con-tinues, "has been parcelled out amongst different races and what remains re-mains is a total ruin. "In the first days after the armistice, armis-tice, Germans and "Austrians still crowded the capital. Most of these now havo been deported. It is worth noting that Count von Bernstorff (the former German ambassador at Washington) Wash-ington) left his post at Constantinople the day after the armistice was signed. However, his satelitcs remain, still plotting, "On the declaration of war Turkish ideas or desecration ran riot. Christian Chris-tian cemeteries within and without the city wero uprooted. The tombs or British soldiers at Gallipoli recently had been desecrated in an abominable abomin-able manner. "It seems, in fact, that tho Turks during the past four years have done everything to outrage the feelings of the Allies and in that they have been ably seconded by tho Germans." |
