Show MILITARY SURVEY ISi DEIK COMPLETED II OH Major H. C. Boyden. in charge of the reconnaissance bureau of, the Unl ted States, called at the local forestry offices Wednesday for a brief interview inter-view with Lieutenant R. E. Davis, who has been in charge of the district military mil-itary survey for the government. This survey, which is invaluable to the government, is being made with a view to having on record at all times maps of all highways, telegraph lines, telephone lines, local resources, camping camp-ing grounds available for troops, railroad rail-road lines and any means of transportation, trans-portation, over all the United States. In Wyoming, Idaho and Utah, 40,000 square miles of territory have been I surveyed and Major Boyden reported ' that work in this district is progress-:c ing unusually well. All data collected is received wholly through volunteer forces throughout the country, such as local boards, national na-tional boards and city and state officials. of-ficials. The co-operation from these sources has been of the very highest, and tho success of this work, according accord-ing to Major Boyden, is in a great part due to this fact. Major Boyden left Ogden today for Salt Lake, From there lie will go to Arizona and will complete van inspection inspec-tion trip of all southern states, after which he will return to his headquar-1 tors in Chicago. . on |
