Stocks made a rather indifferent response re-sponse at the opening of today's trading trad-ing to the action of the money committee com-mittee in restoring margins to the 20 per cent rate. Initial prices wore irregular, ir-regular, steels, coppers, equipments and motors recording fractional recessions, re-cessions, but the list soon steadied on a moderate inquiry for rails and ship-pinga, ship-pinga, also specialties, Including tobacco to-bacco and sugar Issues. Liberty fourth 4 M 'a were again active at the new low record of 9G 14. Pools were nctive in specialties, tobaccos to-baccos being favored at gains of Vi to 1 points. Oils and Malting preferred prefer-red also advanced 1 to 3'2 points, Royal Roy-al Dutch proving an exception by a 3 point decline. Gains were largely relinquished re-linquished later when rails, steels and coppers fell back, United States Steel being under special pressure at an extreme ex-treme decline of lc. United States Rubber lost its one point gain on reports that action on the dividend would be withheld, but sugar and distilling issues were stromr.
