Show I mm RECEPTION II OGOEI will open CIPSI1 Their enthuslam aroused by the coming visit to Ogden of William Jennings Bryan, for three times standard stand-ard bearer of the Democratic- party, the Bourbons of Weber county are making great preparation for the reception re-ception of the "Commoner" next Tuesday. Arrangements had been made when tho first word of the visit came for holding a meeting, at the Alhambra theatre. The hour has been definitely set for 2:30 p. m., next Tuesday. Mr. Bryan will leave Reno, New, tho previous pre-vious evening, coming direct to Ogden. Og-den. Other plans for his entertainment entertain-ment while hero arc being held up, awaiting word as to what will best suit the campaigner himself. The notice given local Democrats has been short, and they arc making extraordinary efforts to get word to all within range of the city of the fact that Bryan will speak here. One of the unique advertisements was a picture of Mr. Bryan, life size and then some, which was being framed this afternoon, preparatory to its being be-ing placed in the window of a prominent prom-inent store near Twenty-fourth and Washington. This plcturo is the property of Guy Johnson of Ogden, and Is one of a limited number of largo pictures made for use in tho campaign of 1908. At the termination of that campaign, Mr. Bryan presented present-ed these pictures to numerous of those who had given him able assistance, assist-ance, among them Mr. Johnson, who was a member of tho advisory committee com-mittee in Colorado that year. Gatherings of the campaign, and judicial district committees were held this afternoon, and at both, plans for the Tuesday address, which will open the Weber campaign, were discussed. These meetings were in progress at the time of going to press. It was announced by S. P. It is expected that, by that time, the local campaign managers will have word on the plans of tho Bryan party which will enable them to definitely work u the matter of tho party leader's reception. re-ception. Beginning with Tuesday, the campaign cam-paign will wax warm. The Democratic Demo-cratic state committee is said to feel that the battle ground in 191G lies In Weber county, and no efforts will be spared to place before the people of the vicinity the Democratic doctrine in all its particulars. Other big speakers arc expected in the near future, including Shaffroth of Colorado. Simon Bamberger, candidate candi-date for governor, and W. H. King, candidate for senator, are both planning plan-ning to do a good deal of personal work in Weber. Getting ready for the fray, the judicial ju-dicial district committee opened its headquarters this afternoon at Room 406, First National bank building. The campaign committee is expected to secure se-cure quarters and to open up work tomorrow to-morrow or Monday. Plans for active local work have been under way for some time, and, it is said, will soon be in the position where some of them may be announced shortly. oo |
