Show oo CALVIN AND WHITNEY CO THROUGH TO SALT LAKE A B Calvin, president of the Uuion Pacific Railroad, parsed through Ogden Og-den today, en route to Salt Lake City from tho north. W. A. Whitney, su perintendent of transportation of the Union Pacific railroad, was also iu the city for a short time, coming here from Omaha. He also went to Salt Lake City. While here, Mr. Whitney referred to the serious situation existing in the east with regard to the fast decreasing decreas-ing number of freight cars available for transportation purposes. The car shortage territory is widening dally, due to the fact that the seaports are again becoming congested with freight awaiting transfer to outgoing ships. Shippers and consignees of freight, should work with the railroads, he Bald, to relieve the situation, loading and unloading ther freight v.ith as much dispatch u possible oo |
