Before the announcement of Samuel Powell, that he had reconsidered reconsid-ered his decision not to become a candidate, can-didate, Toseph E. Evans, the present incumbent, who is a candidate for re-nomination, re-nomination, had but one opponent. The opponent in question Is R. H. Baumunk, former assistant city attorney. attor-ney. Powell was given a place on the legislative ticket by the convention last Saturday, but on discovering that he could not meet age requirements of legislators, he withdrew. Clarence E. Wright then announced himself a candidate for the vacancy in the legislative leg-islative ticket Powell had previously declined to be a candidate for county attorney in the belief that he would have a better opportunity for the legislative leg-islative nomination. Mr. Evans is confident the convention conven-tion will recognize bis efforts in caring car-ing for the legal phase of the county business by renominating him. Mr Powell is equally confident that he will be given the nomination. The same declaration was made for R. H. Baumunk by his friends. J. L Robson is confident he will be nominated for assessor. He has made a thorough canvass and bears a personal per-sonal acquaintance with almost everv one of the delegates. Roscoe Glasmann. who was named temporary secretary of the convention tomorrow, today declined the honor. There were no developments in the contest for sheriff. In addition to the appointment of a credentials committee, the first hour of the convention will be devoted to the appointment of the committees on platform and order of business.
