Show LUCY GATES IS HEARD I CBLII1U GIIIPIIE The voice of Lucy Gates, ever to bo known as Utah's Nightingale, was heard this morning at tho Ogden Tabernacle by Director Joseph Bal-lantyne Bal-lantyne of the tabernacle choir and a few favored guests, in a rendition of Echert's Swiss "Echo Song," reproduced repro-duced by a Columbia concert grama-phone. grama-phone. "Had we not been in view of the gramophone," Professor Ballan-tyne Ballan-tyne stated after hearing the song, "we would have thought Emma Lucy was with us in person, for the reproduction repro-duction was virtually perfect." The "Echo Song" record, which is one of a number Miss Gates has made for the Columbia company, was received re-ceived today by the Browning Brothers Broth-ers company, .and is the first one that has reached "Utah. The song is probably prob-ably the favorito with tho audiences of the singer's extensive repertoire, and has been a request number on nearly every occasion sho has appeared ap-peared in concert in Utah. While Miss Gates has not given it a place in her prospective program for her re-citnl re-citnl with the Ogden choir next week, it is probable, according to Professor Ballantyne, that arrangements will be made for the phonographic reproduction reproduc-tion to be heard on that occasion. nn |
