Wong Jim, a local Chinaman, forfeited for-feited $150 ball this morning in the police courL The forfeiture marked tho close of a case that has been pending for more than a month, as the defendant was booked on the charge of gambling, on the night of August 13. He was arrested by Scr-gean Scr-gean H. C. Peterson and P. J. Naylin. Tho case was unusual, in that Wong Jim had been arrested the previous night on a similar charge and released re-leased on payment of ?150 bail. Following Fol-lowing his release the arrest occurring occur-ring on a Saturday night tho next night, he proceeded to again indulge in games of chance and was again taken into custody. Thinking he was being persecuted, he refused to furnish ball the second time and was locked up. The next day he retained Attorney H. H. Henderson Hen-derson as counsel, furnished bail and was released. In the first case, the bail was forfeited the following day, but the calling of the second case for trial was delayed until this morning. Neither 'the attorney nor his client wore in court when the case was called, but Assistant City Attorney John C.
