FRED SCHADE Nominee of the Progressive and Democrats of Weber County for Member of the Legislature. I have never sought a nomination for office, but If I am elected by the 1 people in this county of Weber to ! terve them in the next Legislature, I my policies shall be absolutely void of favoritism I believe in legislation that will redound re-dound to the benefit of the masses. I am opposed to class legislation 1 am a supporter of the Initiative. Referen dum and Recall I am hot-tile to the "boss" system of government, for the bosses never work for the people. I Ftand for a representative government that represents "the people." I stand for a "rule of the people" as a prac- I tical truth instead of a meaningless pretense I despise the so-called "ma- ! chine rule" in politics. I believe in a plain program of con- structlve reform I believe ln tearing down only that which Is wrong and ' out of date, and build In its place that which Ib right and fitted to the times I xo make laws fit conditions as they are and meet the needs of the people today. I believe that some revision Bhould I be made in our lawn on taxation, an amendment to name that would materially ma-terially stimulate oncourag&ment to the "home-builder" of moderate moans. I believe and stand for government gov-ernment ownership of public utilities. (Signed ) C, FRED SCHADE. Advertieement. ) Ml My word Is good, and I am as good as my word JOSEPH CHEZ. (ADVERTISEMENT). Advertise-ment. , r. n 3 a I , i I LjJ RETRACTION. Bi' To The Morning Examiner: In your article this morning pert-lning to the Retail Merchants Association In which you quote letters written oy me, these letters have worked a great injustice, and while YOU QUOTED ME CORRECTLY I want to undo the wrong so far as it can be undone, and therefore frankly admit that I e-verstepped my bounds as president of the association by sending out the letters set out In your paper without consulting ALL of the board of dlroctors I also want to undo the Injustice and wrong which has been done to the legislative candidates on the Democratic-Progressive ticket, and hereby retract the same. Neither of said legislative candidates nor the legislative candidates on the Republican ticket have been interviewed or consulted as to any legislation directly or Indirectly concerning the Retail Mercnants Association, nor have any pledges, or promises, implied or express, ex-press, or any other kind, been made to the Retail Merchants Association by said legislative candidates on cither the Democratic-Progressive or Republican tickets. My explanation for writing the letters was by being overwrought by the action of the State Bar Association convention at the Hermitage last August, when the repeal of the "Dead Beat Law" or the Garnishment Act passed by the last legislature was recommended by a committee of five railroad and corporation attorneys of Salt Lake City, which recommendation Is as follows: "That the Statute passed by the last session of the Legislature permitting garnishments at the time of fib Ing an action be abolished or amended, restricting the right."
