Show Talent Show staged by EV Women's Club By Georgia Moyle A talent show, dime a dip dinner, and rummage sale was sponsored by the Escalante Valley Women's Club on March 6 at the Community Center. The Talent show included the following numbers: dance by Wendy Wood; acrobation by Leslie Bowler; piano solo Julie Hart; vocal solo "This is my Country" Lorraine Gentry; Retold story by Randall Holt; harmonica solo by Francis Piper and numbers by the Valley String Band or "Laub Lobsters." The tables were decorated in Red, White and Blue with colonial figures and flags, keeping in with the 1776-1976 Bicentennial theme that is being carried out through the valley in preparing for their main Bicentennial event which will be on the 3rd of July at the Community Com-munity Center. This was the second of a series of events as a supper was held at Newcastle on Feb. 21, under the direction of Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Gentry. Other events will follow and be sponsored by the PTA and other groups who are uniting under the coordinating council to raise funds for fire works, a barbecue, etc. that will be part of the July Bicentennial celebration to be held in the Escalante Valley. |
