Show ATTENDS STATE MEET.Joe Williamson, District Fire Marshall, recently attended state-wide meeting at which special emphasis was placed on need for concern owing to drought conditions. Fire Warden attends confab Joe Williamson, Iron County District Fire Warden, War-den, recently returned from the State District Fire Warden meeting in Salt Lake City. t 1 'i This year, due to the extreme ex-treme drought being experienced ex-perienced in Utah, the meeting was held one month early in order to help alleviate the impact of wildfire during this drought year on the non-federal lands in Utah. Paul Sjoblom, State Forester, addressed the group with the warning that the ensuing fire year could very probably be the worst in the state's history. The meeting dealt with training in various aspects of fire organization, fire tactics and a discussion of the problems facing the wildland fire manager in terms of the state's rapid growth. The Iron County Fire Warden has a four-wheel drive truck and a 200 gallon pump-tank unit for use on fires. Among Williamson's responsibilities are the suppression of all uncontrolled un-controlled wildfire in the county, issuance of burning permits, a variety of activities ac-tivities relating to fire prevention programs and enforcement of Forestry and Fire Control Laws throughout the county.
