Show Microwave in Springdale Construction is under way for a Mountain Bell microwave station in Springdale which will help provide better telephone service for southern Utah. The $262,000 project consists of an addition to the Springdale Mountain Bell building, installment of special electronic equipment, equip-ment, and construction of a 40-foot microwave tower. When completed, the project will tie into the Cedar City-St. George microwave system and will provide the Springdale vicinity with a greater communications capacity to areas outside the community. com-munity. Eventually, many of the open wire lines and poles in the scenic Zion National Park area will be removed because of the expanded microwave system. The hew process also will provide better services with fewer outages and less noise because messages will travel by radio wave instead of open wire lines. The Springdale microwave station is scheduled to begin operation on January 6, 1978. |
