Show ASCS request farmers acreage report Anticipating changes in farm legislation, the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service (ASCS) is now requesting all farmers in Iron County to report their barley, wheat and corn acreages planted for 1977. Darwin Hulet, Chairman of the Iron County ASC committee, said farmers will have until August 1, 1977 to report their planted wheat and feed grain acreages. Farmers who fail to report will be considered to have a zero acreage of wheat, barley and corn and may be ineligible for program benefits in 1978. ASCS employees will make spot-checks of farms to assure that acreage reports are accurate, Hulet said. The county ASCS office, of-fice, located in the new Federal Building on 100 East in Cedar City, is now accepting ac-cepting acreage reports. Farmers should note that the reported acreages will NOT be used as a basis for establishing acreage allotments. |
