Show Coach Osborne to Host Major Meets: Dixie, C S U Dual Contest Is Friday The heaviest track and field schedule set by the CSU physical physi-cal education department for, many, many years will begin, ticking off this week when Coach Bruce Osborne and his thinclads greet the Dixie Rebels In the sec. ond dual meet this spring. The clock will count off three meets in as many weeks with the CSU campus the scene of a four-school invitational on May 3 and the ICAC meet on May 11. The Broncos have paced themselves them-selves well, and Coach Osborne feels his team has every opportunity oppor-tunity to deserve attention as host of the major meets. They defeated Dixie in their first meet with a 73 to 63 win. CSU sewed up eight first places ' and tied for a ninth in St. George.. Two school records were broken when Dave Sagers won the two-mile and Royal Thornton Thorn-ton tossed the Javellne 186 feet six inches. The Bronco thinclads placed three notches In the first-place poll Friday and Saturday at the BYU Invitational meet. Roe Smith placed first in the high Jump. Gary Middleton won the Javelin throw. The mile relay team also took top honors. Members Mem-bers of the team are Randy Burr. Duane Colledge, Ross Marshall and Grant Myers. The Broncos will be hosts to Dixie, Carbon and Snow next week in a Friday afternoon meet. Coach Osborne then will ready the track and field to host the teams from Boise to Dixie on May 11. |
