Show Teen-age Road-e-o Slated for Saturday The annual Jaycee Teeg-age Road-e-o driving test will be held this Saturday morning, Apr. 27. starting a 9. The test will be conducted on the College of Southern Utah Fieldhouse parking park-ing lot, and the public Is Invited to come out and watch teenagers teen-agers demonstrate their skill in handling an automobile. The purpose of the Teen-age Road-e-o, which is patterned after af-ter the national truck roadeo, Is to give teen-age drivers a chance to prove and to Improve their driving habits and attitudes. The Jaycees are aware of the general public alarm over the traffic situation sit-uation and are determined to take positive action to alleviate the situation, with emphasis on the young driver. They are particularly par-ticularly concerned over the ex. treme public criticism directed at young drivers and over the tendency to adopt negative meas-ures meas-ures as solutions to the problem. prob-lem. The Jaycees know there is a definite need for a positive safety program. Judges for the driving skill test will be Cedar City Police Chief Tony Lambert, and Highway High-way Patrolman Robert Reld. Drivers Dri-vers will run through an obstac le-type course involving four different dif-ferent exercises straight line, serpentine, curve and offset, and parallel parking. The first place winner will be rewarded with a Philco table model radio, donated by North East Furniture Company, and an engraved plaque, given by Milne Truck Lines. In addition, he or she will have a chance to advance ad-vance to the state finals to be held In June. The state winner will win an all-expense paid trip to Washington, D. C |
