Show Funeral Services Held for Mamie D. Orton Funeral services for Mamie D. Orton. 80, highly respected resident resi-dent of Parowan, were held Monday Mon-day at 2 p. m. In the First-Second Ward chapel. Mrs. Orton died Friday morning at the Paro-wan Paro-wan Rest Home, where Rhe has lived for the past year, of causes Incident to age. Caroline Mamie Durham Orton was born In Parowan Mar. 9. 1877, a daughter of Thomas and Caroline Mortensen Durham and was a life-long resident of this community. She spent a lifetime of service in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Church, serv- lng as an officer and teacher lr I the Sunday School. Primary an 1 Relief Society, acting as a vislv. I lng teacher for the latter organ.. Ration for 50 years. A capable musician she acted ar chorister for the Relief Society and Primary Pri-mary groups and for the Parowan land Iron County Camps of the Daughter of JJtah Pioneers. She 'became a member of the Parowan Paro-wan Ward choir when only 13 years of age. I The deceased was married to 'William H. Orton on Dec. 10. 1897 in the Mantl L D S temple. Her husband died July 20, 1925. , Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Ruth Guymon, Parowan; three brothers. Wllford Durham. Parowan; Alfred and George II. , Durham. Salt Lake City; three sisters. Mrs. Mettle D. Robinson, Mrs. Sarah D. Connell, Parowan. and Mrs. Isabell D. McGregor. Salt Lake City. Funeral services were conducted conduct-ed by Woodrow Decker, counselor coun-selor in the Parowan First Ward bishopric, who also spoke at the services. Other speakers were PrCSiuCTit liuWafu KfllKllt Mlci Anril J. Adams. The opening prayer was offered offer-ed by W. Leonard Evans, the benediction by Karl O. Mitchell, and the grave in the Parowan City cemetery was dedicated by W. Clair Rowley. The prayer at the home was offered by George II. Durham.
