Show Cedar Redmen Place Third in Dixie Invitational Meet The Cedar City High School Redmen thinclads came up with third place in the team standings at the Annual Dixie College Invitational In-vitational Track and Field meet staged at St. George Saturday. Dixie High School walked off with the f'.rst place honors followed fol-lowed by Kanab in second place. Dixie compiled a total of 68 points, the Cowboys had 62, the Redmen tallied 31, and Central was in fourth place with 29. Lee Hunter was the top point getter for Coach Hal Norton's Redmen, accounting for 13 of the 31 points on the strength of a I first plaro In tho shot put and second in the broadjump Hunter's first In the shot was the only first place for the Red-men. Red-men. They garnered two seconds, two thirds, three fourths and a fifth to compile their 31 points. The other second place scored was by the Mile Relay team composed com-posed of Dennis Dalley, John Rol-lo, Rol-lo, Mike Webster and Neldon Bryant. Hunter heaved the shot 48 feet to win in that competition. Third places were scored by Mike Webster in the 180 yard low hurdles and by Dennis Dalley Dal-ley in the 120 yard high hurdles. Dalley also picked up a fourth place behind Webstr in the low hurdles. The Redmen 880 yard relay team picked up a fourth place and Webster added a fourth in the fcropdjump. Paul Gardner picked up a fifth place in the 220 yard sprint. Another Iron County man, Gery Mortensen of Parowan High took second place honors in the 220 yard sprint. |
