Show Praise Given Utah Artists Group For Local Concert By Janic Olson (Member Cedar City Music Arts Association Committee) The Cedar City Music Arts Association As-sociation alms toward outstanding outstand-ing entertainment, and Monday night's program was no exception. excep-tion. The Utah Artists Concert, presented pre-sented In the High School auditorium, audi-torium, was one of the finest numbers brought to us In several seasons. These Utah Artists are fine performers per-formers and on their way upward. up-ward. Mrs. Lila Kitchin, soprano, has a magnificent voice. Her aria from' "La Boheme," was thrilling. Mr. Stuart, tenor, sang beautifully. These two artists have recently married and plan to move to the east this winter. Myron Syphus, piano soloist, is just 19 years of age, but I feel he will be a coming artist. His numbers were well received. Miss Madsen's violin solo was very well done, and Mrs. Lennox Larson, accompanist for Miss Madsen and the two singers, was with them all the way. They performed for a very receptive re-ceptive and attentive audience, but 75 to 100 people in a large auditorium have a difficult time sounding appreciative. The Cedar City Music Arts Association As-sociation feels very sorry that Odar City couldn't produce a larger audience than this. Due to difficulties in scheduling and date conflicts the concert did ome at a busy time. I hope that if they come again the community will be able to give them the support Cedar City has always given fine artists. |
