Show Parowan Clean-up Campaign Moves Into Second Week Mayor Nielsen's clean-up proclamation proc-lamation in last week's Record officially opened Parowan's campaign cam-paign to tiddy up our "Mother Town." Of course this program ' will take many weeks and even months to accomplish. Your 'check-list'' may prove helpful. The main thing is to decide .vhat needs to be done and then work consistently toward your joal. Are those old trees really lead and need to be removed or do they just need a good pruning? prun-ing? The sagging fence is it worth fixing up and painting? or should it come down? What about that rusty old car body in the back yard, the useless water tank, or the sopgy sofa where millions of earwigs hatch each appreciate your keeping the If you own a vacant lot, your neighbors all around you would appreciate your keeping the fence repaired and the weeds controlled. Each of our 88 captains cap-tains know, all too well, that the entire picture on his block can be spoiled by one unsightly, cluttered lot and a sidewalk impassable im-passable with weeds. Don't have the poorest-kept spot on the block whether you live there or not. Clean It Up. , Many of our townspeople are constantly improving their surroundings, sur-roundings, without ny prodding 'or fanfare. These civic minded folks deserve our appreciation. (1) Bryce Adams, for the convenient con-venient block-topped parking lot at the rear of the Mercantile (2) Jay Moore, who keeps the sidewalks and street edges on his black so weed-free. It Is ' our j pleasure to pay tribute this week to more attractive landscaping, j (3) The Carol Wright home where in order to achieve the j present "well-groomed" look, she had to "do battle" with a forest of overgrown trees and shrubs and with old fences. If you are driving on 500 West, do note the (41 beautiful well kept H. E. Bayles grounds, always j lovely and colorful. A block south j (5) you will enjoy the Lollin D. Orton landscape. The new background back-ground fence, which they built I and painted, frames myrieds of ' flowering shrubs, perennials and I bright annuals. It is contrived with a couple of jogs in its pattern pat-tern making the whole effect unusually attractive. Turn West and you will be amazed with the beauty of (6) the Michael Vilk grounds. The Vilks are from Call- fornia and have really turned their property into "a bit of heaven." hea-ven."
