Show I College Library Seeking Missing Copies Of School Magazines, Yearbooks, Newspapers The recent gift of four old "Student Magazines" of the BAC from Mrs. J. S. Prestwich helped to fill some vacant spots in the collection of student publications being made by the CSU library. Still missing from the collection collec-tion are the following issues: All prior to April 1910, May 1910 to April 1911, September to December, Decem-ber, 1911, May 1912, September 1912, November, 1912, January 1913, September to November 1913, January and February 1914, April to June 1914, September 1914, February 1915, April to June 1915, September and October 1915, March and April, 1916, June and September 1917, November 1917 to May 1918, all of 1918-1919, 1918-1919, all of 1919-1920, all of 1920-1921, 1920-1921, all of 1921 1922. "The Student" was established during the latter part of the Branch Normal School period of the history of the college, apparently. ap-parently. At first it was published publish-ed monthly and later weekly. It has been at various times a newspaper, a literary magazine, and a yearbook, sometimes combining com-bining functions. Other student publications be ing collected by the library are: "The Bacian," a weekly newspaper newspa-per about 1936 and later, about 1947, a literary magazine; "The Agricula," which was published between 1914 and 1920, and 'The Agricola," which was published every two years from 1920 to 1930 at which time it became an annual. an-nual. The student newspaper has been variously called 'The Student," Stu-dent," "The Bacian," "The So Utahn" and 'The Thunderbird." While "The Thunderbird file is nearly complete, there are some missing numbers which the historian his-torian would like to have. The file of 'The Bacian" and 'The South Utahns" are meager. Missing from the yearbook col-' col-' lection are all prior to 1915, the issues published between 1926 and 1935, the 1944 and 1948 issues. is-sues. Almost complete also is the file of Bulletins and Catalogues. All that are lacking here are the following years: 19131914, 1914-1915, 1914-1915, 19151916, 1918-1919, and 1922-1923. The library is also searching for Issues of the Iron County Record Rec-ord prior to 1933. Anyone who has any of these missing publications or knows of their whereabouts is requested request-ed to contact A. T. Challis, librarian-historian, or Inez S. Cooper, Coo-per, assistant historian. Your help in completing these important import-ant historical collections will be appreciated. Mrs. Prestwlch also presented the library with a copy of the Report of the State Superintendent Superintend-ent of 1896 and some newspapers of the year 1910-19111. Such historically his-torically valuable Items help to swell the growing collection of historical records and documents, and are very much appreciated. |
