Show Irrigation Canal Claims Life Of LaVerkin Child Gary Halterman, 16-month old son of former Cedar City residents, resi-dents, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Halterman, Hal-terman, died Monday of this week at LaVerkin, when he drowned in an irrigation canal. The body of the child was pull-2d pull-2d from the irrigation canal about a mile from his home and attempts were made by the fire department to revive him, but were unsuccessful. The fire department was alerted alert-ed when the boy was discovered missing while playing in the Halterman front yard. The Irrigation canal, containing contain-ing water about 20 inches deep, runs in front of the home. The youth was born in Cedar City July 9, 1961 to Eugene and Anna Mae Orton Halterman. He is survived by his parents, two brothers and iwo sisters, including includ-ing Donald, serving a mission for the LDS Church in Peru: Ronald, Betty Jane and Susan Kaye, all of LaVerkin; and grandparents, Mrs. Pearl Halterman, Cedar City, and Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Orton, Buhl, Ida., former residents of Parowan. |
