Show Bus, Truck Crash Near Cedar City Injures Salina Man One man was treated at the Iron County hospital for minor abrasions and lacerations and held overnight Monday evening when a spectacular accident occurred oc-curred one-half mile north of Cedar City on Highway 91 when a Sevier County School bus, occupied oc-cupied by only three persons, plowed into the rear of a truck. Treated was Von Durfee of Salina. Sa-lina. Escaping uninjured were two occupants of the bus, the driver, Russell Bastian and Marvin t'hristensen, both of Salina and Bill Baldwin cf Cedar City, owner and operator of the truck. According to Wm. Burch, Highway High-way Patrol Trooper, who Investigated, Inves-tigated, the truck was stopped on the highway attempting to make a left turn into the Hunt Oil Co. Service Station. The bus rounded a turn headed north out of Cedar City and plowed into the rear of the truck completely com-pletely wiping out the right front section of the bus. The right fender and doorway to the bus was forced back and the bed of the truck came to rest In the right front seating sec-tion. sec-tion. Durfee was seated in the right front section of the bus but Jumped back just prior to the impact The act pr bably saved his life, Trooper Burch said. The bus had previously broken down in Cedar City during the past week and the three men had completed repairs during the day and were returning to Salina with the unit to put it back In "se. |
