Show Funeral HcM In Parowan jForLuella lames Funeral services were held on in Parowan Monday at 2 p. m. for Mrs. Luella Applegate James, 58, Parowan native and former resident, resi-dent, who died Thursday, Nov. 29 at Lamoore, Calif, following a lingering illness. The services, held In the First-Second First-Second Ward chapel, were conducted con-ducted ,by Bishop Bruce Matheson. Mathe-son. Speakers were Mr. artf Mrs. Durham Morris and JosjiTft3et- Mrs? James resided for several years preceding her last illneea. The musical program consisted of a vocal solo, "One Fleeting Hour," by Mary O. Topham, ac-l companled at the piano by Mrs. Mary Lyman; a vocal solo "One Sweetly Solemn Thought,'1 , by Hershel Neeley. Cedar," and a.'VO cal solo, "Goin Home" by Mrs. Edna Brown. Mrs. Itha Mortensen was accompanist for the last two numbers and was at the organ tor prelude and postlude music. Opening prayer was by James L. Benson, Mark Robinson gave the benediction and James C. Applegate dedicated the grave in the Parowan City cemetery. The prayer at the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Robinson where the remains lay prior to the services, ser-vices, was offered by George Halterman. Mrs. James was born In Parowan Par-owan Auif. 11, 1904 to James E. and Alice Davenport Applegate and resided here until she finished finish-ed high school. She was married to Darrell James In Cedar City In January, 1921. and they moved from this area. They were divorced di-vorced and for the past seven "rs she has resided In Cedar City, where she has served a. ntcht clerk at the Lunts Hotel. She is survived by one son. Floyd James, in the U. S. Navy, based now at Lamoore, Calif, and one grandson. Also survivng are the following brothers and sis-ter: sis-ter: Mrs. Arthur (Maretta) Robinson, Rob-inson, Mrs. C. L, (Eva Robinson. Lucius M. (Gladys) Benson. Mrs. Roland (Valeria! Holyoak. and Vern Applegate, Parowan; James C. Applegate, Cedar City, and Lyle Applegate, Milford. |
