Show Record Visitor Travel To Zion Recorded for Holiday Zion National Park drew a record re-cord number of visitors to South ern Utah over the Memorial Day week end, Superintendent Oberhansley Ober-hansley said to'lay. Figures compiled in the Superintendent's Super-intendent's office show the larg-est larg-est holiday week end travel since Labor Day, 1952. Superintendent Oberhansley said a total of 11,787 people visited the Park during the Memorial Day holiday. The South Campground was nearly filled to capacity and the Grotto Campground was opened to accommodate ac-commodate the Influx of visitors. Although, there were no accidents, acci-dents, visitor activities conformed conform-ed to usual patterns. Most trails received heavy use and large crowds attended ranger-naturalist talks. Two valuable purses, one containing two diamond rings were lost by campers. ?kth were found and returned to the owners, ending tho perfect holl-day holl-day for two families due to the traditional courtesy expected of the visitor to the National Parks. |
