Show I'EWCASTLE t.'ZWS NOTES By Norma ChristoiiMo i The best news to everyone around here was the lovely rain we had Monday night Along with the rain was plenty of thunder thun-der claps and lightning. A tree and wagon were struck by lightning light-ning and burned down near Scott Tullis's home. Also a pump at the Chrlstensen farm. The good benefit of the rain outnumbered these small misfortunes. - Fishing seas opened last Saturday Sat-urday and most of the families In town could be found around the shores of the reservoir. Fishing Fish-ing was pretty good, but not as much of a hot spot as it was last year. . Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Reber of Mesquite, Nev, paid a surprise sur-prise visit last Saturday at the home of their daughter and her family, Im. and lilts. Norman Hulet. Hu-let. Kindergarten started Monday at the Escalante Valley School, with Mrs. Leda Jolley as the teacher. Eight youngsters are attending at-tending from Newcastle. They are Debra, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herman McCarty; Laureda, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clifton Hulet and Laureda's little cousin, cou-sin, Laura; Valerie, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Trusten Hart; Nel-lie Nel-lie GaL daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hart; Donald, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Hart; Eugene, son of Mr and Mrs. Verl Wool-sey, Wool-sey, and Laura, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Norman HulcL This is a big step In every one of these little people's lives. Mr. and Mrs. Jay Nielsen and two daughters of St George, were visitors last week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Melvln Hulet Mr. and Mrs. Gerald (Carolyn) Johnson and little daughter Tammy Tam-my of Las Vegas, were vUitors last week at the home of their folks, Mr. and Mrs. Kay Knell, zo Chrlstensen. Mrs. Revoe Hulet received word Sunday that her twin sister, Mrs. Devere Alger and her five children chil-dren had been In an accident just west of Cedar City. Mrs. Alger Al-ger received some cracked ribs but luckily no one was injured seriously. Mr. Alger, who was In Wyoming at the time, came and picked up his family and took them home, after a few days rest at the Hulet home. Visitors at the Robert Piatt home this week have been Mr. and Mrs. Al (Mary) Raines and four children of Milford. Also, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Brunch and their son and his family, all of Phoenix, Aril Mr. and Mrs. Warren Piatt and family went to New Harmony last week to attend the wedding reception for one of their nephews. neph-ews. Mrs. Iva Harrison attended the BPM State Convention in Cedar City, and also the last meeting held in Zion National Park Sunday. Sun-day. A stake social honoring the Relief Re-lief Society visiting teachers was held In Panaca, Nev. on Tuesday. |
