Show : John Peter Bayles, 81, Dies in Parowan John Peter Bayles, 81, promln I ent Parowan businessman and' livestock raiser, died at his home I hre early Tuesday morning of causes 1 Incident to age. He was found dead ' In his bed by his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Matheson, with whom he resides, having passed away in his sleep during the .night : Mr. Bayles had been active in affairs of the community until failing health recently. He had been a member of the board of directors ; of the Bank of Iron County for many years. He had also helped to establish several businesses in this community, among them being the Parowan Times Publishing Co., the Pare wan Auto Company and the Par owan Mercantile Co. He also was the owner of the old Parowan Paro-wan Meat Market for several years. He Ws born in Parowan Jan. 4, 1879, a son of Herman Daggett and Dorthea Jensen Bayles. He attended the local schools and in his early life worked at farming farm-ing carpentering and freighting. Farming and livestock raising later became his chief interests and continued to be until his death. He was a member of the LDS Church. He rnarrl-rj Neita Bentley of Parowan In Suit Lake City on Oct. 4, 1917. She prevrtded him In death, Nov. 27, 1949. Surviving are three sons and Bayles, Frank B., three daughters as follows: M. E, Frank B., and John Galen, all of Parowan; Mrs. Bruce (Adele) Matheson, Parowan; Mrs. Norris (Dorthea) Johnson, Magna, Mag-na, and Mrs. Marlow (Joy) Im-lay, Im-lay, Cedar City. He also has 22 grandchildren. He was the last surviving member of his father's large family. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p. m. in the Parowan Paro-wan First-Second Ward chapel under the direction of Alma B. Evans of the First Ward Bishop-rlc. Bishop-rlc. Friends may call at the family fam-ily home in Parowan after 10 a. m. Thursday until time for the services. |
