Two) nephews of Mrs. Magleby madej the return trip to Cedar City with the Maglebys for a short visit The young visitors are Jimmy and Gordon Deyo of San Mateo, Calif. Combining work with pleasure is a niece of Bernell Twitchell, Miss Mary Lou Twitchell of Can-nonville, Can-nonville, Utah. Miss Twitchell is spending the summer with her uncle and family and hTs family, and has taken employment in this city. Bobby Harding of Orem. Utah, Is having fun visiting with his grandparents. Mr. and Mrs. Preston Pres-ton Wood. Bobby is the son of the former Norma Jean Wood. He was on hand last week end when his Uncle Mark Wood, a son the Preston Woods, made a surprise visit to Cedar City. Mary Is re-- re-- siding in Carmel, Indiana and 'was in Utah on business. Anoth. er house guest of the Woods for the week end was Mrs. Wood's sister, Mrs. Minnie Ercanbrack, of Alamo, Nev. This week Mr. and Mrs. Jack Strate welcomed Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Duncan and children Lar-' Lar-' ry and Carol from Bakersfield. Calif. During their stay, Mr. and and Mrs. Duncan were guests of honor at a dinner party given by Mrs. Adrian Bunting and Mrs. Virgil Bird. Enjoying the dinner followed by an evening, of bridge at the Bird residence were the guests of honor, Mr. and Mrs Strate. Mr. and Mrs. Bunting and the Virgil Birds. j Mrs. Stayner Thompson, the former Dorothy Bradshaw, and her three children are visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs Stanley Bradshaw this week. On the list of visitors from out-of-town are Mrs. Margaret Harmon and children David Brent and Gregory. During their stay in Cedar City, they have been the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Henry L. Jones, parents of Mrs. Harmon. After a visit at the home of her parents last week Delbert Lott of Richfield, Mm. Clark Mathews re-turned re-turned to Cedar Ciiy bringing with her for a visit here two nieces. Karen and Susan Utley of Sandy. Visiting In Cedar City over th week end with family and friends were Mrs. Eva Hunting- ton and her daughter Shrema Ann, now of Salt Lake City. A former employee of the Mountain Moun-tain States Telephone Company here. Miss Huntington has recently re-cently accepted employment at the Murray branch of the telephone tele-phone company. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hey borne and children traveled to Logan during the past week end on business. They report having purchased pur-chased a home in River Heights where they will live when Mr. Hey borne takes up his new duties du-ties at the Utah State University this fall. Mr. and Mrs. Collin Smith will be visiting In Cedar City until Sunday at which time they will travel to California where Mr. Smith will be stationed at Fort Ord. The young couple arrived In Cedar City early this week from Indianapolis. Ind., where Collin was completing an adjutant adju-tant general instructional course. While In Cedar they are visiting with the T. Gordon Smiths and with Mr. and Mrs. Joseph of Bea-ver, Bea-ver, parents of Mrs. Smfth, the former Karma Joseph. Mrs. Florence Cardon spent a recent vacation In Logan visiting vis-iting with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Clair Mor. ris and family. While In Logan she also visited with other relatives rela-tives and friends. Last week Mrs. Cardon returned to Salt Lake to enjoy a reunion of her father's family at the home of her sister, Mrs. Geraldlne Wheeler. Taking a month's vacation In Odar City, is Mrs. Blanche Ho jchen who Is now residing in George. Mrs. Houchen will Isnend her time here with Mr. and Mrs. Gail Duncan and children Joanne and Neuman. Mrs. Therol McArthur visited with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Warburton In Tooele last week and with Capt. and Mrs. L. C. Crowther of Salt Lake City. She was in Salt Lake for the July 24 parade and rodeo and to see the play "Salome." Also while in Salt Lake she enjoyed visiting with her many relatives who reside re-side in that city. Making the trip with her was a daughter Tamra. The Meadow Centennial celebration cele-bration took Mrs. Conway Parry i back to her home town to enjoy a family reunion and to greet old friends and neighbors as they gathered to participate in the town's anniversary. Visiting with her brothers Ural Bushnell, and Waldo Bushnell and with a sister sis-ter Mrs. Harold Stewart, of Meadow Mea-dow was very enjoyable. Three other members of her family traveled to Meadow making it possile for the seven of her family fam-ily to be together for the first time in 10 years. I Mr. and Mrs. D. C. Schmutz have been having a wonderful time as they have welcomed three nephews of Mr. Schmutz to Cedar to spend their vacation. Visiting from Phoenix. Ariz., are Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Coates and children. Mr. and Mrs. Ward Coates and family have completed com-pleted their visiting and have returned to their home. A surprise sur-prise visit from Capt. Robert Coates was thoroughly enjoyed Monday when he landed the Army Convair of which he is pilot pi-lot at the local airport for an overnight stop. He and his copilot, co-pilot, Capt. Bill Blankenship en-Joyed en-Joyed the unexpected reunion before be-fore taking off again Tuesday morning for Patterson Air Force Base, Dayton, Ohio. Mrs. Arthur Coates, mother of Mrs. Schmutz. of St. George has also been on hand to enjoy the visit from her grandsons and their families. The group spent part of their visit at the college ranch where the children were thrilled with the mountains and the outdoor sports they offer. Mrs. J. V. Rocco and daughter Mrs. Marllee Connell spent the past week end visiting in Magna with Bill Rocco, a son. They report re-port having had a nice visit both in Magna and Salt Lake despite the current heat wave. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Pursell and children of Upland, Calif., have been house guests during the past week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Robb. During Dur-ing the week, the families enjoyed enjoy-ed visits to the parks and the cnyon and some good fishing. The Pursells left Cedar City Wed-nesday-for their California home. Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Chatterley who are at Corvallls, Ore. until the middle of August report that they are enjoying their new experience ex-perience very much. Taking advantage ad-vantage of the time Mr. Chatter-ley Chatter-ley Is free from his classes at Oregon State University, they are making sight-seeing trips to var-ious var-ious points of interest. They are also renewing friendships with Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Hatch, former for-mer Cedar residents who have made their home in Oregon for the past two years. |
