Show Additions to College Faculty Named by Director Dr. Royden C Bralthwaite, di-rector di-rector of the College of Southern Utah, has recently announced the appointment of two very prominent residents of Cedar to the Home and Family Living De-partment De-partment of the college. They are Mrs. Ada Carpenter and Mrs. Marie Krueger. These two women are to replace re-place Miss Barbara Ward and Mrs. Christine Mathews who left the department after completion of the spring quarter. According to Director Bralth-walt Bralth-walt "W are very fortunate in securing the services of Mrs. Carpenter Car-penter and Mrs. Krueger in help ing us to develop our educational education-al program at C S U. Both Mrs. Carpenter and Mrs. Krueger are held in high respect by professional profes-sional colleagues and administrators adminis-trators throughout the state. "They will give special atten-tlon atten-tlon to the Improvement of course offerings in home and family living, and work with the coor dinator of student housing and his staff in creating the conditions condi-tions most conducive for happy and productive group living within with-in our dormitories. They will also be actively engaged in planning plan-ning new facilities which will be included within our new basic sciences building authorized by the last legislature. "We have appreciated the ex-cellent ex-cellent service of home and family fam-ily living Instructors in the past; we look forward to continued development de-velopment of our program under the direction of Mrs. Carpenter and Mrs. Krueger," he said. Mrs. Carpenter was born and raised in Teasdale, Utah. She attended at-tended the C S U and later earned earn-ed her B. S. degree in homemak-Ing homemak-Ing from the U S U. She has been teaching for the past 10 years in the Cedar City junior and senior high schools. She has affiliated herself with the A A U W, M I A, B P W and the 4-H program. Her special in-terests in-terests are music and ceramics. Mrs. Carpenter has resided In Cedar City since her marriage, and is the mother of three children. chil-dren. Mrs. Krueger was born and schooled in Cedar City. She graduated grad-uated from C S U in 1938, and obtained her B. S. degree in foods and nutrition from U S U In 1947. She has taught for 11 years in both the Cedar City and Hurricane Hurri-cane High homemaking departments. depart-ments.
