Show Women's Softball Team Enters Salt Lake Tournament Tillie Biederman, "mother" of women's Softball in Cedar City, announces that tournament time is drawing near, and the first tournament activity of the Cedar City team will take place in Salt Lake City next week. Tillie and her team members will leave for Salt Lake Tuesday to participate in the senior women's wo-men's softball tournament there. The tournament opens Tuesday, Aug. 6. but the Biederman team drew a bye for the opening round and will not see action until Wednesday. The tournament is a double elimination affair, so the local team Is assured of continuing until the third round of play. Success In the second and third round games, of course, will de-termine de-termine further action. The team is composed of women wo-men that have played on a number num-ber of Cedar teams in recent vears and includes Maudell Smith. Mary Clark. Phyllis Chat-terlev, Chat-terlev, Mlna Walker. Dorothy Waldon . Vie Marshall. Virginia Orton, Jewel Forsyth. Betty Hel-land, Hel-land, Pat Gardner, Jane Chat-terley. Chat-terley. Mrs. Biederman also announces that the annual Southern Utah Women's Softball Tournament will be played on the local field on August 15, 16 and 17. Four teams. In addition to the Cedar City team, have entered the tour-nament, tour-nament, Mrs. Biederman says, and one or two others may enter later. The four outside entries to date ire Milford, Beaver, Miners-ville Miners-ville and St. George. |
