Show Cedar City Resident Handed Fine For Illegal Cuttings Bailey Hamblin, Cedar City, was apprehended by Sheriff La-Nard La-Nard Johnson of Kane County for cutting Christmas Trees on public lands without first securing secur-ing a permit from the responsible respon-sible public land agency. The tree was cut on National Forest land on Highway U-14 at Swains Creek. Mr. Hamblin was taken before Justice of the Peace, Tom Wake-ling Wake-ling at Kanab and fined $50. Forest officers, county sheriffs, Bureau of Land Management, and state foresters representatives representa-tives are all checking Christmas Tree cutting to prevent trespass. Cutting Christmas Trees on anv land within the state of Utah without a permit is a misdemeanor misde-meanor and punishable by fine, imprisonment or both. The U. S. Army Recruiting Station Sta-tion located at Room 7, Post Office Of-fice building. Cedar City, has announced an-nounced that yo":ig men and women who are eligible for enlistment en-listment in the U. S. Army may be enlisted during the period of Doc. 12, through Dec. 31. 19"8 with the option of returning to their homes on leave until after Christmas and New Year holidays, holi-days, so that they may spend this time with their families.
